GETTING VAN DRIVERS TO THINK ABOUT ID.BUZZ.

THE CHALLENGE.

Help Volkswagen raise awareness and challenge expectations for its new all-electric ID. Buzz van

OUR RESPONSE.

Electric vans are set to be a key battleground for manufacturers over the next decade. Vans make up 15-20% of UK vehicle sales, so getting a head-start in the fast-growing electric van market is crucial to a brand’s future success. That’s why Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles asked us to help them support the launch of their new all-electric ID. Buzz, ensuring it could top the wish-list of the small businesses and van-buying decision-makers in our audience.

Volkswagen has sponsored our What Car? Vans channel since 2019, putting its vehicles and ‘Working With You’ brand promise of business support in front of 2m users, 75% of which are small businesses. This was the perfect base for our ID. Buzz story.

First, we crafted ‘Work Smarter/Live Electric’ films that presented the ID. Buzz through the lens of pioneering British businesses who share its ethos if thinking smarter and acting more sustainably. A documentary-style format let us craft a richer, deeper narrative, while using BBC presenter and sustainability advocate Lindsey Chapman added warmth and credibility.

But, as vans are hard-working tools, we also had to bust some common misconceptions and myths about the capability of electric vans. Essentially, getting electric-curious van buyers to #ThinkAgain. Using highly original high-impact stop-motion animation, we answered big questions around the ID. Buzz’s capability in an engaging and memorable way.
